Some of you may have seen my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! earlier. I think I'm going to get one and I've been shopping around for engine options. A few minutes ago, I happened upon this little beauty. Its a .3 cubic inch wankel rotary engine putting out 1.08 horsepower at 17,000 RPM. And is that a little tiny velocity stack on top? You bet it is. Hnnngggg. Unfortunately at $500 dollars it's a little out of my price range, but if anyone wants to give me one for christmas, you can pick it up !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . If it were cheaper, I'd happily risk my airplane pooping apex seals and raining fiery death on the populace for the coolness factor alone, not to mention the power to weight ratio, which is excellent.

I just saw your other post also, Find a club and have someone teach you to fly, You Will crash it if you take it out on your own and try to fly it. I speak from experience. I thought I'd have no problem because how hard can it be? It's not difficult to learn but you need to learn and you can't fly a crashed plane. The PT-40 is a great trainer. It's a very fun hobby. This is what I learned on. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti000…

I want this. I don't know what I would even do with it, but I want it. Christmas is coming... Anyone?

Goddamn, that thing is cool.
I love miniature engines, especially when they're rotaries.

You'd need a reduction gearbox to slow the prop down to a usable rpm, which will add some weight. Cool engine though.

No you don't, just a small prop

A friend of mine owns one of these. I don't think he's run it yet, and I can't say I blame him. These are very low production and very expensive

I'm not an R/C expert, what rpm range do normal 2-stroke r/c engines have? How does a small prop make 17k rpm usable? At that speed the blade tips are supersonic and lose much efficiency and make lots of noise.

I don't fly IC, but the range is from 10,000 to 14,000 rpm. A smaller prop puts less strain on the engine, plus being smaller would make the tips less likely to go supersonic, the radius is smaller therefore the tangential velocity at the tip would be smaller for the same rpm

Found this on YouTube, a wankel-powered A-26 twin. Jeebus do those engines scream.
